Earning Point Assessment :
Earnings must be made up of 12 consecutive months and must fall within the 15 months before your application.
You can claim points for a 12-month period outside of the 15-month period only in very limited circumstances. These are if you have been away from the workplace for a time during the last 12 months because of:
- full-time study; or
- a period of maternity or adoption-related absence.
You do not have to be in continuous employment during the 12-month period being assessed, so:
- you can claim for a period of earnings less than 12 months; and
- earnings do not have to be from a single employer and can be from full-time, part-time, temporary or short-term work.
If you claim for a period that is more than the 12 months, UK Home office will assess the most recent period of 12 months for which you have sent evidence.
UK Experience : ( Maximum 5 Points )
you have successfully scored points under previous earnings and those earnings were made in the United Kingdom.
Maintenance (funds) can include:
-
cash savings in your account that have been in your account for at least three months before your application;
-
cash savings in a joint account that have been in your joint account for at least three months before your application;
-
cash savings in a account overseas (They convert the amount to pounds sterling using the rate which appears on the OANDA website, and the date on your bank statement), that have been in your account for at least three months before your application.
-
Fixed Deposite are valid for Maintenance fund.
If you do not score a minimum of 75 points for your attributes and 10 points for English language and 10 points for available maintenance (funds), your application will be refused.
Important!
To qualify for Tier 1 (General) of the Points Based System you must be able to demonstrate that you have funds to support yourself and any dependants. For the main applicant this is £2,800 with a further £1,600 needed for each dependant accompanying you or planning to join you within 12 months of your arrival in the UK. These amounts must be held in your personal bank account for a minimum period of 3 months for which you must show bank statements/other evidence immediately preceding and dated no more than 7 days prior to the date you submit your application. The balance should not fall below the required minimum at any time during the 3 month period.
Use the points based calculator to calculate how many points you have and whether you are eligible to work in the United Kingdom as a highly skilled worker under the points-based system.

Hi,
Wish you a very Happy & Prosperous new year
Can you plz clear my doubts:
1. Am I right that I can provided salary slips of ANY 12 consecutive months within 15 months span before the application, most recent is not mandatory correct?
2. In a period of 12 consecutive months I do not hold salary slip of one month due to job change, is it ok to show salary of only 11 months as the funds total is appropriate as per req.
3. I get 40 points if I consider first 12 months salary slips in a 15 months span & I get 35 points if I consider most recent 12 months salary slips in a 15 month span. Which shall I consider for submission.
REQUEST YOU TO PLEASE CLARIFY THESE DOUBTS SOON AS HAVE NEED TO SUBMIT IN THIS MONTH.
Many thanks,
-imran

Hi,
I could not submit last 12 month salaray slip. for example i can submit Jan 2009 to dec 2009 months salary slip. due to some finance problem my company did not give jan and feb salay yet. they will give jan salay on March. in this situation, can i apply for hsmp visa.
Hi Dev,
First of all, it is great work that you doing, despite assumingly, your busy schedule in the UK. Will definitely like to catch up with you when am there.
I am 29, have a Masters from Imperial College London(the college does show up on PB calculator) and will be submitting my original certificate, so:
1. Do I need a letter from them stating I studied there ? (for UK Experience)
2. Do I need a letter from them stating the course was in English ? (for Language)
Additionally, I am employed by my family-owned business, hence, my earnings are credited and paid only on the 31st of March, for the whole year. I hope to get my taxes filed by mid-April, and apply soon after @ VFS, Ahmedabad.
My income is not an issue – adding up my interests (or dividends), and my annual salary (paid in single cheque at year-end), I get the points I require. Will this suffice ? Or, is not having 12 cheques an issue?
Just for info, I have been to the UK in 1999, 2007, 2008, and 2009 (on Visitors and Student visas), plus also been to Japan, so have all those visas on my passport, dunno if all that really helps?
Thanks a ton.
Chintu.

Hi Sir/Mam,

Thank you,

I read on points calculator that “Enter the exchange rate to convert to pounds sterling (GBP) at the time you earned the money.” for earnings. Is that required or current exchange rate is sufficient? What is rate is different for different months, as from 1 Jan 2009 to 1 Aug 2009 the rate changed from 70Rs/pound to almost 80Rs/pound.

I am going to UK on Friday . I already have the Tier VISA. Can anybody tell me what docs are required need to take there and what questions may immigration officer may ask at airport.
Sanajay !!!
Hi Dev,
I am little bit confusion over the conversion (To pounds). Some people converting earnings into pound month-wise. If i calculate so , I am ineligible. That’s why, i asked in this forum.
I want to know that what way(Month-wise or last day of claiming period) case worker will follow.
HI,
IN the point 7 under PREPARATION heading you mentioned that “Last 12 months payslip duly signed by company authority.” Actually in my company the salary slip is computer generated which bears company logo on it. Moreover, on the UKBA website they mentioned that the computer generated salary slip will suffice the purpose. Could you please tell me if the British High Commission wants that the salary slips should be signed from the employer?

Ask your Finance dept to provide the proof for the internal issue.
Please mention the matter clearly in covering letter so that case worker would get to know about this than it shouldn’t be a problem.
