  • Earning Point Assessment :

Earnings must be made up of 12 consecutive months and must fall within the 15 months before your application.

You can claim points for a 12-month period outside of the 15-month period only in very limited circumstances. These are if you have been away from the workplace for a time during the last 12 months because of:

    • full-time study; or
    • a period of maternity or adoption-related absence.

You do not have to be in continuous employment during the 12-month period being assessed, so:

    • you can claim for a period of earnings less than 12 months; and
    • earnings do not have to be from a single employer and can be from full-time, part-time, temporary or short-term work.

If you claim for a period that is more than the 12 months, UK Home office will assess the most recent period of 12 months for which you have sent evidence.

    UK Experience : ( Maximum 5 Points )

you have successfully scored points under previous earnings and those earnings were made in the United Kingdom.

    5 Points
you have been in full-time study in the United Kingdom for at least one full academic year, and have been awarded a qualification at bachelor's degree level or above. The qualification should have been awarded within the last five years.
    5 Points

    Maintenance (funds) can include:

    • cash savings in your account that have been in your account for at least three months before your application;
    • cash savings in a joint account that have been in your joint account for at least three months before your application;
    • cash savings in a account overseas (They convert the amount to pounds sterling using the rate which appears on the OANDA website, and the date on your bank statement), that have been in your account for at least three months before your application.
    • Fixed Deposite are valid for Maintenance fund.

If you do not score a minimum of 75 points for your attributes and 10 points for English language and 10 points for available maintenance (funds), your application will be refused.

    Important!

To qualify for Tier 1 (General) of the Points Based System you must be able to demonstrate that you have funds to support yourself and any dependants. For the main applicant this is £2,800 with a further £1,600 needed for each dependant accompanying you or planning to join you within 12 months of your arrival in the UK.  These amounts must be held in your personal bank account for a minimum period of 3 months for which you must show bank statements/other evidence immediately preceding and dated no more than 7 days prior to the date you submit your application. The balance should not fall below the required minimum at any time during the 3 month period.

Use the points based calculator to calculate how many points you have and whether you are eligible to work in the United Kingdom as a highly skilled worker under the points-based system.

      Hi Dev,

My HSMP visa got rejected in march 2009 because of fake documents submission. Actuallt the problem is that i have fired from my previous company because of fake experience.they have mentioned that in my releiving letter. So while sending the docs to UK visa i changed the releiving letter. So my application got rejected under ground rules. But my experience is genuine. Now i have joined in one more comapny and i had one year experience in current company. So can i reapply for the visa second time without that previous company docs? Now all my docs are genuine. What are the chances of getting the Visa.

Congratulation to all who have got the HSMP Tier1 VISA. I am also interested in applying for the same. I shall appreciate you all if you could share few informations about applying tier1 visa.
      1. The application requires the following documents :- vaf9, self assessment form, Bank draft, salary slip ( 12 months), bank statement for the last three months, Master’s degree certificate, last year Income tax return , photo, passport. Is there any thing else which is needed for applying the VISA.
      2. Is there requirement from the bank about the maintaining the 2800 pounds in written or the last 3 months statement is enough?
      3. Salary slips need to be stamped by my company or not ?
      4. I have been told by one of friend that the fee for applying the Tier1 visa increased? what is fee for Tier1 visa?
      5. Is there need to get a letter from the HR department that I am working for the company ?
      6. If anyone who have got the Tier1 visa , please tell me your contact number, email address so that I can talk to you if I need any help in applying the Tier1 Visa.

I got HSMP VISA in April 2008 and it will expire in April 2010. After getting HSMP visa I never went to UK, since I left for Finland. Currently working in finland only.
      my questions are
      1) Can I renew the existing HSMP visa provided that I am not having masters degree. (rules have changed now, but it was not there when i
      applied in 2008)
      2) If not, then Can I process work permit on basis on this HSMP. For work permit, do I need any sponsor.
      3) If I come to UK in Feb 2010, will it be possible for me to renew the HSMP?

Hope to hear back from you soon.

I am currently holding a valid HSW Tier 1 (valid from Oct 2009-2012) Visa and planning to travel on March 2010.
I would like to know if there is a fixed time within which I have to make the first entry to UK from the visa validity start date?
Is it acceptable to enter UK say after, 4 months from the validity start date? Also does this have a consequence on visa extension at the end of 3 years?

    34. Gaurav says:

      Hi Dev,

I am Gaurav currently working in a IT company in India. I want to apply for HSMP Tier 1 visa. Can you please help me in answering my below urgent queries. And If possible then please email me as well your reply at gaurav_031@yahoo.co.in

      My details :
      1) Age – currently 27 – since from this month I have started maintaining balance of Pound 2800 so I would be applying in next April end 2010 and at that time my age would be 28 years and 3 months. My DOB – 27 Jan 1982.

      2) Funds – I have just started maintaining and will maintain it. (No worry on that). So by april 2010 I would be able to show last 3 months funds.

      3) Salary – Approx. INR 40,000 per month (Gross Salary). I am thinking to apply around next April end i.e. april end 2010, as by that time I would get form 16 from my company and I will file IT return (of income from 1 April 2009 to 31st March 2010 with gross average salary rupees 40000 per month) and can show that IT return for visa application purpose. I can also show salary account (for salary credit verification purpose and salary account bank statement).

      4) Education – I did B.com (correspondence from Delhi university in 2000-2003 batch)- I can get certificate from Delhi University mentioning that it was 3 years course and medium of instruction was English.

I did PGDCA (one year Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications) from Kurukshetra university in 2006-2007 through correspondence.

I also did MBA (2 year correspondence course from sikkim manipal university – 2007-2009 batch). I can get certificate from Sikkim Manipal University mentioning that it was 2 years course and medium of instruction was English.

This is the first time I would apply for any visa. On the basis of the above details do you think I can get visa and I should apply for it ?

My Next Query is as follows :

My fiancee studied in UK for 2 years and she did Diploma in hotel management. Around 1 and half year back she came back to India and then applied again for Student visa. however at that time she got refusal from UK embassy. UK embassy gave the reason that she was not able to deposit her fee in time when she did her hotel management diploma earlier and her attendance was also short.

Do you think that we should get married in Jan 2010 and apply together around april end 2010, where I will be main applicant and she would be my dependent ? (ofcourse we will maintain funds which are required for dependent for 3 months)

Is her refusal for student visa going to affect my (main applicant’s application) if we get married and apply together around april end 2010?

or Do you think that first I should apply as single and once I get my visa then around may/june 2010 we should get married and then she should apply instantly as my dependent ?

      My next important query is:
If you think that first I should apply as single and once I get my visa then around may/june 2010 we should get married and then she should apply as my dependent. Then in this case is it mandatory for me (main applicant) to marry her once I get my visa around may/june 2010 then go alone to UK stay there for atleast 4 months and come back and then she should apply as my dependent ? I mean is it mandatory for me to be in UK for atleast 4 months before I can take her along ?

If it is mandatory for main applicant to stay in UK for 4 months then when I come back to apply for my wife’s dependent visa then please let me know what are the all formalities I need to show ? for example do I need to show rent agreement of the place where I am staying in UK ? and also do I need to show my salary slips of these 4 months while working in uk ? (Are salary slips mandatory ? because I guess we can easily show rent agreement but it might be possible that may be during initial 3to4 months I might not get job in UK. And if salary slips are important then is there any minimum salary in pounds that should I earn and should reflect in my salary slips of those 3-4 months so that I can get my dependent’s visa done ?
Please let me know about all the formalities in this case.

or do you think that once I get my visa around may/june 2010 then in the same month we should get married and instantly apply for her dependent visa before I leave for UK ? (we will fulfill all the formalities like funds for dependents, marriage certificate etc.)? And what are all formalities in this case to be done to get dependent’s visa done ?

I would really be very grateful to you if you reply to my queries ASAP.

Look forward to your quick reply. Have a nice time ahead.

      Thanks,
      Gaurav

Don’t think that, you do have good degree and strong experience and we can easily get a job in UK..something like that…If you still want to come here, please try to come thro’ the companies where you are working…Most of the IT companies in India should have Onsite opportunities…

      Apply HSMP
Talk to your Manager and HR
Try to come here thro’ the company.

But Still, if you are interested to spoil you career, waste your time and money….. you are welcome …Its up to you!!!!!!!!

My fiance is planning to apply Tier 1 General visa in March 2010. And he is planning to leave to UK in May, after our marriage.

We will be getting married in May and i plan to apply as his dependant in May.

For the fund requirements, can i show the 1600 pounds in my account or is it necessary to show in my fiance’s account?

Also can we maintain the fund requirement from now on or do we have to wait till we get married?

Also can i apply immediately as a dependant after marriage and travel with him in May.

      Your help is immensely appreciated.
